The region
Sosnówka is located in the valley of Jelenia Góra, which is known as the valley of palaces and gardens. In addition to castles and ruins of castles from the middle ages (for example Chojnik, Bolków and Bolczów) the summer residence of the king of Prussia is situated in the valley as well as other palaces from the same period. Many of these are located along the river Bóbr, as the palace in Wojanów, one of the most beautiful in the area. In the Miniature Park in the town of Kowary the castles and palaces can be seen in smaller versions together with other famous buildings of Lower Silesia. Six kilometers from Sosnówka is Karpacz where one for example can visit the church Wang, build in Norway in the 11th century and moved to Karpacz in the end of the 19th century. Visits to the museum of toys and the museum of sports are also possible. Karpacz is the starting point for a trek to Snieżka, the highest point of the Karkonosze mountains (1605 meters), or for walks along other beautiful mountain tracks. Szklarska Poręba and Swieradów are two other small towns in the neighbourhood from where it is easy to reach various mountains tracks. A park with attractions for children, Western City, is located in Sciegny not far from Sosnówka. There are also possibilities to make longer excursions to the palace of Książ or Czocha, to the peace church in Świdnica and even to Prague and Dresden.
